Links and Resources

The Pan-American Traveler’s Forum on Facebook – seems to be the best current active resource for “overlanders” to connect.

Wiki Overland – great resource for border crossing procedures and other nuts and bolts info.

Drive to South America – this is probably my favorite blog I’ve stumbled across so far. Korean kid w/o great English or Spanish decides to jump in a 1980 Mercedes Benz 300SD Turbo Diesel and drive to South America. I love his attitude about travel and life that comes across in the blog. Great in-depth explanation of the gigantic pain-in-the-ass process of shipping your car across the 90 miles of jungle that is the Darien Gap.

Life Remotely – a couple take their 1997 4Runner “Blue” on an epic adventure on the Pan-Am highway. This site made me realize I could ship my car back to Galveston. Much thanks for the detailed info. – I’m sure it will come in handy.

Gringo’s Guide to the Pan-Am Highway – lots of solid advice and concrete info.

The Road Chose Me – really enjoyable blog, very inspiring. I plan to do a map on my hood like this guy. So instead of trying to hide from local cops – take the opposite approach and declare yourself on an expedition – with a map on your hood to prove it! I will report back on the efficacy of this strategy.
